If you provide student support, please share your wisdom on this question: Why don’t more students take advantage of the resources we provide? This question has been bouncing in my head since last week’s Academic-Zone webinar, Supporting at-risk students transitioning to post-secondary: Study skills and writing focus.   At this point, especially when apathy in any capacity is shown, I believe it becomes more than just a student-teacher thing, or a trainer-client thing; it’s a people to people thing.         Got Problem Students? Also keep in mind that teaching a disengaged, apathetic student is not a waste of time, even when it feels like it. I shared in episode 9, which was Avoiding Discouragement in a Thankless Job, that I was a terrible student and drove all my teachers nuts. I talked nonstop, I was lazy, and I was incredibly irresponsible.
